Call Gov. Shapiro
Feb 27, 2026
Thank you for joining the thousands of Pennsylvanians saying NO to ICE in Berks County.
And thanks to Governor Shapiro for coming here yesterday and promising to use “every tool at his disposal” to stop planned ICE detention centers here and in neighboring Schuylkill County.
“We are not playing around,” he said. “We do not want this here.”
We’re not playing around either, but we know the Governor can’t stop this violent federal assault by himself. He needs to hear how much we really, really don’t want this here.
Please, call Governor Shapiro right now at (717) 787-2500 to say we’re with him in the fight to keep ICE OUT of our community.

Tell him we need a bold leader who will protect our vulnerable neighbors, friends and loved ones — and who will end state collaboration with ICE.
Also urge him to visit the Mohannon Valley Processing Center – one of the largest and most profitable immigration detention centers in the country -- less than two hours from Harrisburg. The ACLU reports that immigrants held inside Moshannon -- most of whom have no criminal record whatsoever -- face physical and psychological abuse by staff, ethnic, racial, and religious discrimination, severe medical neglect, and barriers to even the most basic forms of justice.
What happens there will surely happen here if we don't stop it. And the two planned detention centers in Berks and Schuylkill counties will house FIVE TIMES the number of immigrants than Moshannon.
You took the brave step of signing our petition. Take the next step today by calling Governor Josh Shapiro today at (717) 787-2500.
Thank you!
